THE IDEA
Making colour the protagonist.
Barolo Nero moves from commanding black to a deep, velvety red as light travels across the surface, turning a technical paint reveal into a cinematic experience. Barolo wine becomes the visual metaphor for the shade itself — connecting its name, depth and rich red undertones to the film’s visual language.
01 / The Creative Challenge
The challenge was not simply to show a colour, but to capture its transformation. Barolo Nero had to read as an authoritative black in shadow, then reveal its deep red undertones as light moved across the surface — while preserving the subtle reflections, material depth and premium character of the finish.
02 / The Contribution of THREEDEERS
THREEDEERS developed a hybrid production approach combining live-action reference with AI-driven image creation and cinematic post-production. The captured material became a visual reference for surface behaviour, reflections and lighting, while the final imagery was carefully developed to preserve the paint’s black-to-Barolo-red transition across changing light conditions. The result is a controlled, premium visual language built around the material itself — its depth, reflectivity and response to light.
